Breakdown of nights....

Was planning on spending 3 nights in yangon this Summer.... Then thought about adding a 4th night, but read somewhere that could be too long... Would it be better to stay at 3, increase to 4, or consider doing 2 in Yangon and 2 in Bagan? Thanks.

Breakdown of nights....

If you have to come so far away from NY , better be 2 in Yangon and 2 in Bagan.

Breakdown of nights....

Would you consider Bagan to be a good choice in addition to Yangon? Any recommendations as toy which Myanmar airlines are better than others? Should I buy that ticket beforehand, or is easier to buy it inside Myanmar? I will be travelling around SouthEast Asia, so I will only be coming from Bangkok. My choices are somewhere along the lines of either 3, 4, or 5 nights, but I would need to skim from other places if I do 4 or 5. Thanks.

Hi there

you%26#39;ll be doing yourself a big favour by adding 4th night to your trip here. If you get an early morning flight from Bangkok you%26#39;ll have all afternoon %26amp; evening to explore some of the sites of Yangon %26amp; just enjoy the atmosphere, eat some good food %26amp; just watch it all go by.

If Bagan wasn%26#39;t in Burma it would probably be one of the most visited sites in the world, 2days there would be fine, hire a bike, take one of the local guides there to show you some of the %26#39;off the beaten track%26#39; places, it%26#39;s a wonderful place.

You%26#39;ll have no problem getting a plane ticket when you arrive. There%26#39;s plenty of places in town, if you want to save time though, just head for Sakura Tower, you can%26#39;t miss it, it%26#39;s a 20storey building opposite Traders Hotel %26amp; just up the road from the Sule Pagoda. Go to Exitissimo travel agents there %26amp; you%26#39;ll have a ticket booked within minutes.

Have fun, you%26#39;ll wish you skimmed more days off another destination to stay longer.

Thanks for the great reply. I am really looking forward to Myanmar, and your reply makes me want to skim further from Thailand to stay longer there.

If I were to add a 5th night, to which city?

You%26#39;re very welcome

Because your time is very limited, you either have a choice of Lake Inle or Mandalay, the plane stops at both of these places. You could fly from Yangon to either Mandalay or Lake Inle (Heho airport)%26amp; then carry on to Bagan for a couple of days. It%26#39;s a bit of a tight schedule but it%26#39;ll be well worth it. I guess it all depends what you want to see %26amp; do, they are both very different places.

Lake Inle is extremely beautiful, tucked away in the Shan Mountains, take a boat ride on the lake %26amp; go to the old Indein ruins or take a canoe round the canals at sunset. Hire a pushbike %26amp; cycle round the lake. With your time span you could push hiring a car to go to Pindaya caves, they%26#39;re pretty interesting, but Inle is a cool place to chill out %26amp; meet people.

Mandalay is interesting too, you could see quite a bit if you hired a car with driver to show you the sites. People seem to have a love hate relationship with Mandalay, they either love it or hate it, not quite sure why. If you love pagodas %26amp; history then this is the place for you, Im sure you%26#39;ve read all about the sites you can visit, there%26#39;s far to many to mention.

So you could either pre-arrange the tickets by email %26amp; have someone meet you at the airport to give you your forwarding tickets to wherever you wanted to go, spend two nights at each place %26amp; fly back to Yangon %26amp; have an afternoon %26amp; evening site seeing %26amp; fly out the next day, or you could fly to Yangon, spend an hour or so booking tickets or do it beforehand by mail, spend your first night in Yangon, then fly to your destinations, return %26amp; fly back to Bangkok on the same day. Hope this helps a little, shame you havn%26#39;t got more time, most people who come here on a very tight schedule usually regret not allowing more time for such an amazing country.

Enjoy

Thanks for the additional feedback. I might just don Yangon and Bagan. Maybe 2 nights in each, which would allow me to not totally rush. I will consider getting the airline tickets once I get to Myanmar. Thanks again.

If you don%26#39;t have much time, plan your tickets ahead. The price may not be different much where you book, but you can assure that you have it. Try to arrive Yangon by morning flight and then fly to Bagan next morning. Fly back to Yangon on 3 rd evening (If availiable, the flight schedule change according to season) and fly back to Bangkok on the 4 th evening flight.

You thing it is better to break up the two nights in Yangon?

We have no direct flight to Bangkok from Bagan. You have to come back to Yangon and it is better to be arrive one day earlier in Yangon for your departure.
