Looking for a brief run-down of the pros and cons of the following places:
MotherLand Inn 2
Golden Smile Inn
MayShan Inn
Summit Parkview Hotel
Kandawgyi Palace Hotel
I understand that they vary in terms of price, but I just want to hear impressions of the five. Thanks.
Which hotel would you recommend out of these 5 and why?
Hey ,
Mother Land Inn 2 is popular among FIT travelers .
Golden Smile %26amp; May Shan Inns are not enough popular .
Summit Park View is the most suitable with resonable price .
Kandawgyi palace is calm in the day time and active for night life but expensive .
If you want to know the price , contact me with your detail itinerary .
With many thanks ,
Kyaw Soe Thu
Yangon , Myanmar
Which hotel would you recommend out of these 5 and why?
What do you mean K Palace is good for nightlife? MayShan Inn is not recommended? I wouldn%26#39;t mind hearing the prices. I would be in Yangon for 3 nights, beginning July 20th. Thanks.
Presume you have checked out all their reviews on this site.
Did you exclude Inya Lake because it is out of town? and the Savoy because of price?
These are our hotels of choice but have stayed at Kandawgyi which was OK but not in my top 5 and visited Summit and got the impression of a business hotel geared to Asian businessmen.
I stayed at the Summit Park View last week and found it to be very acceptable apart from the price of international phone calls @USD5 per minute. One thing to bear in mind in all hotels is that they will not accept ANY dirty / used US dollars. Even one with a very slight cut in it was rejected. Fortunately I had plenty of dollars spare so it did not cause an inconvenience. The view of the Shwe Dagon pagoda from the hotel is stunning.
My impressions are as follows:
Motherland and Golden Smile are very cheap (5 to 10 dollars), but Motherland seems to be a distance away from the center, and there isn%26#39;t a lot on Golden Smile. MayShan is like $15, and sounds acceptable. I didn%26#39;t see any reviews though. Summit is around $35, and gets nice reviews overall. Kp is a splurge for Myanmar at $65, but seems cheap for the experience of being in an old-time hotel on the lake. That was my basis for picking those 5.
I did exclude Savoy because it seemed around $100, and the one on Inle Lake seemed to be too remote.
Inya Lake. Correction. Sorry.
1. Mother Land Inn 2. A bit off ceter (15 minutes walk) but most popular among FIT . However they did not accept local guest and therefore , some do not prefer it . Otherwise good choice. You can get all the help and make your plan with other traveller . Very friendly atmosphere. Free airport pick up service for international flight.
2. Golden Smile Inn ..Sorry, I%26#39;m not aware of.
3. May Shan Inn .. Next to the Sule Pagoda and also popular among FIT.
4. Summit Park View .. more on the business class hotel. Near to Shwe Dagon Pagoda . Typical city hotel.
5. Kandawgyi Palace Hotel . Not far from Shwe Dagon Pagoda too and more boutique style resort type .Surrounded by Royal lake. Most of the Thai traveller stay due to manage by Thai group.
Is it preferable to be closer to Shwe Dagon or Sule?
I am a Summit Parkview convert. Rates hover around 30-32 US/Night, the place is clean, comfortable, etc., and has FREE and, by MM standards, excellent wireless internet in the lobby. I think that there are fewer Asian businesspeople than NGO%26#39;s staying there these days. The last two times I was there, Save The Children, MSF, Salvation Army, UNHCR, you name it. They were all there. What is nice about this is that the hotel is busy.
I stayed at Kandawgyi, and really did not like it at all, apart from the Lake and Gardens.
Also, Summit Parkview is very close to the Shwedagon Pagoda, and I tend to spend a lot of time there, so perhaps that also influences my preference for that hotel.
