Is Bagan to Mandalay doable by river in April?

We%26#39;d really like to make a part of our trip by river but not sure about water levels in April.. .If anybody can help - that would be great, thanks!

Am sure local boats will be running and the Pandaw1947 web site is showing cruises to end of April(and probably beyond but not loaded yet)

Your guesthouse or hotel in Bagan will be able to arrange your ticket for the boat. April is pretty much the end of the dry season so maybe some services will be disrupted. Just ask when you get there %26amp; maybe book your ticket in advance, you shouldn%26#39;t have any trouble. I can%26#39;t remember what the ticket prices are at present, it all depends on what boat you get, budget anything from $18-30pp.

Thanks a lot for your answers! Is there any way to know in advance the schedule for April? (We%26#39;re booking the hotels in Bagan/ Mandalay now and need to know on what day we will be able to get out of Bagan) Maybe there is a local Bagan agent who can help with this? Thanks in advance!

Just jotted down a preliminary schedule and it looks like we will be taking the Bagan- Mandalay ferry during the water festival... Will the ferries be running during these times or will all transportation stop? Thanks for your help!

I can%26#39;t be a 100% certain of this. I know in Yangon most of the buses stop running %26amp; prices are inflated. Another concern, one which I forgot to mention is that the last I heard, the fast boat from Mandalay to Bagan was only running once a week, a Wednesday I think, but don%26#39;t hold me to that. Maybe this is the same from Bagan to Mandalay. I%26#39;ll find out some more info for you from some people here.

Thorn Tree is pretty good for recent trip reports %26amp; I%26#39;ve seen quite a few posts on there relating to this boat trip. Go to the search options there %26amp; do a search. I would put the link here for you for the post I was reading the other day but i can%26#39;t access it from this pc.
