Airport

How far is the aiport from town? What is the typical methods of transport from there and the cost? Which of the 4 main carriers is the best for a flight from Yangon? Thanks.

Airport

About a $8-10 taxi trip,30-40 mins downtown.

Some hotels have own transport with offers etc.

Are you talking International Carriers or are you talking Internal as there are four of each??

Airport

Internal carriers from Yangon. Thanks.

Air Bagan .. However , some don%26#39;t want to use because of political reason. Own by U Tay Za , who consider as biggest supporter of government .One of the advantage is they have Jet and if you can get seat on the jet , the travelling time is short .

Air Mandalay.. Actually, it is joined venture with government.

Yangon Airways. local

We have only these three are reliable.

The Myanmar airways .only local use it.

Thanks for the information.

You may find that, depending on the routes, you get little choice of airline and all hardware is similar - AT42/72 except for the jet that Bagan air uses (I think a F100-their AirbusA300%26#39;s,planned for International routes, are in storage at Yangon-you will see them on arrival)

Tourists do not use Myanmar Airways.

When you arrive, don%26#39;t get a taxi in the airport, you%26#39;ll be paying inflated prices. The airport is tiny, walk to the main road which will take you approx 30seconds %26amp; a taxi will find you or flag one down, much cheaper!

Airport is very close to town as others have indicated.

As far as which carrier, it really depends on where you are going and on what day you are going. Different carriers fly to different destinations on different days. You may not have a choice if your stay is of limited duration.

The airport is not close to town.

Since over a year there are no international flights to nor from Mandalay.

Usually at the airport travellors form groups that share a taxi to town.

Last December it costed K 18.000 as the taxi had to go to 2 different addresses in Mandalay. (In case of one destination: K 16.000)

Might be cheaper indeed when you walk to the mainroad though I do not recall that to be a 30 seconds walk...

I was talking about when you arrive at Yangon International Airport Wish, not Mandalay. But you%26#39;re right, it%26#39;s far cheaper to hook up with someone at Mandalay %26amp; taxi share into town, there%26#39;s always someone to share with.

Bit confused now; because it was under Forum Mandalay, I thought Mandalay airport was the subject.

Re the Airport of Yangon: I too walk to the main road and get a much cheaper taxi from there. (Last 3 times: K. 5000.)
