Mandalay to Pindaya (and then on to Inle) by road- possible?

Hi everyone, we are going to Burma in April;

We would like to avoid flying from Mandalay to Heho and then driving to Inle, and then driving to Pindaya (and I understand that the Mandalay airport is also quite far from the center of Mandalay- is that correct?)

So we wonder whether there any buses from Mandalay to Pindaya (where we would spend the night) and then from Pindaya to Lake Inle? How long would the trip Mandalay-Pindaya take? What would be the cost if we hire a taxi?

Alternatively, we are thinking of taking a train from Mandalay to Thazi and then catching some bus/pick-up to Pindaya from Thazi - does it sound realistic? How long would a journey Thazi-Pindaya take? Will we be able to find a driver in Thazi without having previously arranged for it?

Many thanks!

Hello ,

There are public buses from Mandalay to Pindaya to inle . But you have to stay one night stop in Pindaya because it will take about 10 hours from Mandalay to pindaya .

If you would like to know the taxi fair , please send mail to 86.kyaw@gmail.com with your detailed itinerary .

We encourage not to take train from Mandalay to Tharzi .

Thanks ,

Mandalay to Pindaya (and then on to Inle) by road- possible?

1. Yes, Mandalay airport is quite far from center .

2. As far as I know, there is no direct bus from Mandalay to Pindaya. You have to take Mandalay - Taunggyi bus and off at Aung Ban Town Junction. Than board small bus or pick up to proceed to Pindaya. It will be too tired for you and too much trouble.

3. Then , again , Pindaya to Inle lake, you have to take Pindaya- Taunggyi bus and off at Shwe Nyaung Town Junction and take another small pick-up bus to Nyanung Shwe Town.

Please note , there is very smiller town name, Shwe Nyaung and Nyaung Shwe. Shwe Nyaung is on the way to Taunggyi high way road and Nyaung Shwe is gateway to Inle Lake.

4. I suggest you to take private taxi unless otherwise, you don%26#39;t mide for trouble and time.

5. Train to Thazi and catch pick-up or bus to Aung Ban Town and then proceed to Pindaya . As mention above if you don%26#39;t mind about trouble , time and think it as fun and adventrue.

hey,

u can take bus to Taunggyi (administrative city of Shan State) from Mandalay(10000 kyats appr:). To go to Pindaya, u must get off at Aung Pan junction(6:30hrs drive appr:). then wait for buses coming from Taunggyi heading to Pindaya(1:30hrs appr:). N.B; there r just a few buses to Pindaya.

Mandalay-Tharzi by train, then pick-up to Pindaya sounds realistic. but it might take much more longer than the first option.

so i wanna advise u to take bus parting early in the morning from Mandalay. if every step is in order, u ll be at Pindaya in the late afternoon.

u r heartedly welcome to Myanmar.

enjoy ur trip!
