gifts for schools etc

I am going on a package holiday. I know this is a no no but I have a handicap and it is easier for me so forgive my political incorrectness

I want to balance this by maybe taking some pens to give to schools. I love kids but dont want to encourage begging so thought this was an idea

Any thoughts?

Your idea sounds great but I%26#39;m afraid that all the schools are close this March and you will not see them until first week of June when all the school reopens for another term.

However taking pens, pencils (rather good than pens because kids can rewrite on their books erasing done jobs), exercise books are recommended. Some kinds of puzzle games are also better brought.

You can see kids on roads of villages, towns and some spots so you can deliver.

There are many of orphanage school that need help from people like you . You can donate to the orphanage school.

For me, I never give or hand out or throw anything to the kids who was on the road.It may encourage begging but donate to orphanage school is totally difference.

Don%26#39;t be concerned about a package tour-it is the best way to visit a new country, especially Myanmar. We started our visits by organised tours before moving on as our confidence grew.

I agree with the earlier comments - your gifts should go to the school and let them do the distribution.

Whilst gifts such as pencils and games will be welcomed do not forget that $%26#39;s will be equally welcome and can be spent wisely by the teachers.

We support a school for deprived kids near Insien,Yangon and their latest report gives an idea how far a $ can go.

I quote'; 10cents provides one meal a day for the kids

$2 provides two sets school clothes

$1 provides a pair of shoes.

$3 provides transport, entrance fee and food

a days educational excursion.';

If you , or any other TA%26#39;s want details of the school or would like to visit please contact me via the message site.

I found the dedication of the staff and the happiness

of the young deprived kids very humbling.

thanks to everyone. the package tour is mostly due to my handicap. mostly go on my own
