Yangon to bagan?

Hello travellers. How best get from Yangon to Bagan?? prefer overland if possible? cost? or is it better to go Yangon to Mandalay (overland? fly?) then to Bagan? thx karen

1. Yes , you can go overland by bus or by taxi . If you have group of 4 , by taxi will be good choice. You can stop at any place and can visist. The bus travel at night and you will not see much.

2. If you want , you can go by bus to Yangon - Mandalay first and then , Mandalay to Bagan by boat. Bagan to Inle Lake with by air and Inle lake to Yangon by bus if you want to save some money as well as convenience.

3. Mandaly- Bagan- Inle Lake bus is not recommended . The road and bus are bad.

4. For Car Hiring - around USD 50~60 per day previously. However the price may go up due to fuel cost is going up . The bus fair is around USD 11/- at present .

5.Air tickets price may go up soon too. some of the cost is follow :-

Yangon- Mandalay.. 87

Mandalay- Heho (Inle Lake) .. 37

Heho-Nyaung Oo (Bagan) .. 54

Bagan- Yangon .. 82

6. For monastary .. Mahar Si and Chan Myaik Yeik Thar for mediation . When you arrive, you can ask at your hotel and most of our hotel staff are helpful and will willing to assist you.

7.There is no direct flight to Hanoi from Myanmar. You have to transit at Bangkok.

8. Jun , July is raining season in Myanmar and low season . Prepair for your rain coat.

9. For the hotel in Yangon ..

For the other hotel in other place , when you arrive in Yangon, you can check with the staff and other travellers and they will give you the latest advice .Since June and July are low season in Myanmar and you do not need to worry about the hotel.

10. My another suggesstion is if you want to go for more than USD 15 hotels, I mean you are looking for higher standard then budget , trough travel agent will get better rate .Check around with the travel agent .

I hope to be able to find decent places to stay for less then US$ 15...is that even possible?? coming from South Africa i am on a serious budget. In your opinion would it be easy enough to arrive in Yangon + Bagan + mandalay + Inle Lake and find in-expensive but clean accommodation upon arrival?

Yes, you are able to find the place and check around upon arrival , you can get lower than USD 15 per night per room. June , July is low season here.
