I am Thai national and just back from Myanmar but i would love to go again with my family but my husband and my sister in law are British. I heard British national has difficultty to get visa. Is it true?

How difficult to get tourist visa for British national in Thailand.

Do we need travel agent to assist or not. And how much it costs?

Thank you

Hi,

I can say for sure British Nationals do not have difficulty getting visas for Burma/Myanmar. I know of a few who applied at the Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok with no hassle. I don%26#39;t think you need a tourist agency to get a Myanmar visa. it is more likely such an impression may have been given. Recently, a number of British have been to Myanmar.

During the demonstrations last August/September/October some people were rejected visas, as the embassies were trying to avoid giving access to journalists.

As things are at the moment there should be no difficulty getting the visa in Bangkok, (or in Britain)... only difference is that the option of getting the visa through a local agent or getting it in one day is not available, you must go in person to the embassy. It now takes a minimum of two days or, usually 3 days, for the visa to be issued. Cost is still around 810 or 820 Baht.

It is also still possible to have visas “pre-arranged” through Myanmar travel agents (at an extra fee).
