myanmar tour

We would like to travel from Manchester, UK to Myanmar. Loads of q%26#39;s

1 What is best route/airline? We only want 1 stop

2 When is best time to go? We like the sun but we will be mainly sightseeing

3 We would like to build holiday round a cruise on Orient Express Road to Mandalay (7 nts)

4 We probably want to spend about 7 more days sightseeing then 2/3 days in posh resort relaxing either in Myanmar or on way back (Chiang Mai?)

5 This is a special trip so want best hotels available or at least a special place to stay

Any suggestions gratefully recd

1.Thai is best from LHR as it connects in BKK to its two daily flights to RGN.

However if you want to fly from Manchester then you will have to use Emirates or Qatar with a plane change in the Gulf (middle of the night) and again in BKK.

Don%26#39;t think times are as convenient as Thai.

The Thai LHR evening flight to BKK is the best as you can sleep after dinner and you land at 15.30 with the RGN connection at 18.00.

You do not have to overnight either way in BKK if you not want to (although we normally have a R%26amp;R night on the way back) and you can catch the morning flight back from RGN connecting to the same day flight back at 13.30 from BKK arriving LHR that evening.

If you are planning to turn left on boarding then Thai has best value and 5* treatment/lounges in BKK.

Incidentally Qatar may restart their Doha/RGN direct flight which means you can connect from Manchester.

Look up the flight schedules on the airline web sites but use agents or web sites for best prices.

2.Nov-March

3.Have done RTM twice and the Pandaw three times.

RTM is a bit';dress for dinner'; whilst the all teak Pandaw is a bit less formal and does not normally get stuck on the sandbars , as has happened to us on all the RTM cruises(we lost a full day tour in Bagan on one trip-it is all to do with its length , not draught).

Pandaw is in no way inferior , just more traditional as it is a Burmese boat not a Rhine transplant.

Food was better on Pandaw as it was a comprehensive buffet starter with choice of main dish as RTM was set dinner.

4. If you cruise you will take in both Mandalay and Bagan so probably do not need extra days/Hotels there.

Do go to Ngapali Beach - Sandoway or Aureum resort.

See their web sites.

5.Strand is posh but no pool or grounds so RTM would put you in Governors Residence Hotel which is posh enough and has pool/grounds.

Airline is the fast way and the other side away from the way of sight seeing. That is the chance to see local, and near the touristic place you will face sellers,

the best time ....

I believe that you want to know about the season, yup, winter is good season for travel, and want to away from much tourists should be February,no much travelers.Just only a few peoples.

best hotel, you can check internet .

welcome to Burma that unique of peoples land

Just mentioning that we have booked with Singapore Airlines - Manchester/Singapore/Yangon. The outward flight is a morning one, with 1hr 45mins at Singapore before flying on to Yangon. Return journey is at night. I think they fly at least 2 or 3 times a week, and it%26#39;s very simple to book with them online, as well as easy to speak with them on the phone.

We have used the same Singapore Airlines flight several times when travelling on to Thailand and Malaysia and have always had excellent service.

Thanks to you all %26amp; apologies for not acknowledging sooner-I must have forgotten to tick ';notify me '; box
