Travel Insurance to Myanmar

As per some government%26#39;s travel warning and boycott, most of the tourist , who want to come to Myanmar are facing difficult to buy travel insurance. Is there anyway to overcome this problem??

Travel Insurance to Myanmar

Because the British Government web was warning against anything but essential travel to Myanmar and this could have invalidated our Travel and Health Insurance we have had to cancel our New Year visit and are now going to Laos instead.

This is really distressing to us as we are ';old Burma hands'; and this is the time when our tourist $ would really have done so much good to those Burmese so dependent on overseas visitors.

In retrospect we should have pressed our Insurers (we have an Annual Policy) to confirm in writing our cover before canceling and I would recommend any other potential visitors to do that rather than presume their cover is invalid and not go.

In US MedexAssist, www.medexassist.com will cover you. In the past I have always carried an annual policy from Travel Guard. However, earlier this year Travel Guard notified me in writing that they would not cover me in Myanmar because of the sanctions. After much research I found MedexAssist. They did cover me in Myanmar and put into writing that the coverage was valid in Myanmar. I found that I could get several trip policies at less expense than I was paying for the annual coverage.

Dear Huaschalocro,

Thanks a lot and all your entry shown that you help us, you care for our people. That is what we really need in the time of hardship. Once again thank you very much for your support.

Has anybody found a british or european company that will provide cover?

thanx

The current advice given on the British Government web site does not warn against travel to Burma but gives guidelines and hints on Insurance cover.

The site is www.fco.gov.uk then travel advice-Burma.

From the current wording I do not think there is now an Insurance problem but check with your Insurer.

Just returned from myanmar. travelled with a standard worldwide toursit police, checked with insurer first (phillip williams) who confirmed Myanmar was covered fully under current relaxed FCO advice (this included an evacuation cover given poor medical resources available in myanmar).

The trip was great amd Myanmar was wonderful.

Thanks for all the useful information.
