The air fare from Yangon to Mandalay is $85. You can take a boat from Mandalay to Bagan. The air fare from Bagan to Yangon also not more than $85 as far as I can remember. Normally, if you make hotel booking through travel agent is cheaper. For Air-port pick up and sightseeing in Yangon, you can contact to the tour guide Mr. Hla Shwe (e-mail: tonyhlashwe@gmail.com) who was my guide during my visit to Myanmar. He speaks good English and can arrange for all your travel needs in Myanmar. E-mail him for any additional information you may need.

passenger15,

Thanks a lot for the info on air fare. I have already written to a travel agent and am waiting for his response. If I do not hear from him, I shall certainly contact your guide. Does anyone know the air fare between Bangkok and yangon by cheap air lines.

Thanks again.

I went to Myanmar for 7 days and stayed 12. Myanmar does not work on the same %26#39;clock%26#39; as the rest of the world! I had a flight cancelled - which threw my arrangements off, then I got sick and couldn%26#39;t get on the plane to BKK for 4 days. Plan in some wiggle room around these 7 days. I also would not miss Inle Lake (I personally would give up Mandalay in favor of Inle).

If you need more information, ask. I used Rubyland TA (you can google them if you need someone) and they were certainly wonderful to deal with). The people of Myanmar are exceptional.

I%26#39;m assuming you have read about very few places take CC, almost no internet available, and bringing pristine money.

Enjoy your trip and please report back.

At the moment very few tourist in Myanmar and airlines stopped flying to Bagan. However, in September they may fly. The price I will check with agent and will get back to you. We are expecting that in September too will be few tourist .

Usually, 3 star hotels booking through agent is cheaper. However, this year can be difference since very few tourist.Only thing is you don%26#39;t have much time in Myanmar and you may need to book advance. Othrwise, you can bergain after you arrive.

The hotel price for 3 star, range between 30~50 USD.

2 star , you may get around 20~30 USD.

Previously, Air Asia is cheapest airline from and to Bangkok , Yangon. Actually, only Thai Airways is most reliable flight .

Other information.

1)No ATM or cash machine card, credit card and travel cheque are not useful. So, bring cash only and bring new note as much as possible. Do not bring US note with serila number start with CB.

2) September still may have some rain in Myanmar. Bring rain coat.

3)If you can spare some more days, should visit INLE Lake too since you are coming from far away Canada.

Thank you folks for the advises and tips specially mqzaymin, who is literally a mobile encyclopedia for all things Burmese. Thank you sir for your time guiding tourists to your wonderful country. I am aware about the lack of ATM, rewfusal of CC etc and that only uncle sam rules there. Just another query- what are Airasia fares for BKK-RGN-BKK sector. Since my time is short, I will have to sacrifice Mandalay to visit Inya Lake as recommended by all of you.

It is a good timing travel to Myanmar and very safe situtation compare to Europe. I will be Burma in September so there should not be a problem holding your trip back.

Hello! Yes, seven days should be enough for you to have a good introduction to Myanmar. I have been working for four years in Myanmar and had the opportunity to visit the country extensively. I would recommend you to stay one or two nights in Yangon only, then fly to Mandalay where you can stay two nights, and then transfer by flight or by road to Bagan. I was in Myanmar last week - due to the low season, flights to Bagan were not available. But the distance between Mandalay and Bagan is of 200km only and two thrid of the road is in very good condition - for the one third left, your driver will need to go slowlier. The hotel rates are very very interesting at the moment and you will be welcomed warmly by the locals who will be so happy to take care of you. Another place of interest in Myanmar is the Lake Inle, but you might not have time to visit and i can not say for sure flights will be running in September. For the bookings, you can book the hotels directly via e-mail or via travel agents. let me know if you need more information. KC
