Things to do in Ngapali

We will be in Ngapali in December, and we were wondering if there are any other things to do than relaxing on the beach. Is there any bar to go and drink a cocktail while enjoying the sunset? Any island to hop to? Any village to visit?

Thanks!

You have covered most things.

All the beach hotels have a sunset bar so take your pick.

Boat trips can take you to the islands but mainly for snorkeling and not landing.

Worth going to Thandwe village, a very typical Rackine town with little geared to tourists, and worth a morning spent looking around- especially the market, temples and mosque.

Enjoy.

Things to do in Ngapali

Hi Agent09,

I normally go to Ngapali in December or January. I have been in February as well. Those are the best times to go.

Apart from swimming and lazily sunbathing or lying in the shade in the cool breeze with a coconut (when it gets quite warm in the middle of the day) I would walk along the beach, south-ward, to ';the end'; of the beach - (beyond which is the fishing village) - where there is a little island just a few yards/meters off-shore known as the ';Paradise Island';. Depending on the tide, you can wade across to the bridge; or if the tide is out, you can walk to the bridge. There you get a good panoramic view of both the Ngapali Beach on the northern side and the fishing village (mentioned above) on the southern side.

If you can rise early, go to the fishing village when the boats come in early in the morning, buy some catch, and have a barbecue! I am sure you hotel will be able to arrange the fire etc for you.

You can also arrange for a boat out to explore nearby islands (perhaps take a picnic out)or go snorkelling/diving. (You might want to do it more than once!)

Walk northwards to the rock-cliff and explore (you will have to cross the little stream at the north end of the beach)

Explore the villages along the main road (You can%26#39;t get lost; there is only one main road!) or as mentioned earlier go up to Thande Town on a local bus. (If you can, you can ask the hotel to arrange a car to take you around in Thande)

Evenings are always wonderful to walk along the beach from late afternoon to early in the night/(later if you wish) and ';bar hop'; at the hotels along the beach. Make sure you got a good torch!

Bon voyage!
