If you are thinking of going to Inlay Lake then look up the excellent article by ROC Weekly Travel Feature on the main Thai Airways site:-

Thank you for this link, Silverswimmer. Reading this article gave me goose-bumps! We%26#39;re wondering if it would be within the realms of possibility to go to Inle Lake just for a full day - flying to Heho early morning %26amp; making our way by bus (or whatever means of transport is the quickest) for a sail on the lake, then returning to Yangon the same night?

Doubt it-you will need an overnight stop but if you can fit it then do it.

However it can be chilly and misty when the plain, yangon etc are warm and dry so take woolies.

That would be a very rushed one-day trip ... even if there are late afternoon or evening flights back to Yangon. The airport in Heho is a one-hour drive from Nyaunghshwe, and most boat trips are multi-hour adventures. If time permits, spend at least one or two nights in Nyaungshwe. The canal rides in town are also very scenic, and very expensive. All in all, it%26#39;s a great area for hiking and bike rides too.

Many thanks for all your valuable advice - we can now re-think our plans accordingly.

Shame the original Thai Air link is now out of date but if you get to Inle Lake why not have a trip out to this place.

Great web site, with sound, and I could not believe it until I viewed the site!!
