I am in early stage of planning my trip to Myanmar. I will be arriving in the morning of January 2nd and will be going back to Bangkok in the evening of January 10th so I have a little over a week or so. I am drawing up a rough itinerary and here is what I got.
Day 1 (Jan 2): Arrive Yangon. Sightseeing in Ygn.
Day 2 (Jan 3): Fly to Bagan. Sightseeing in Bagan.
Day 3 (Jan 4): Sightseeing in Bagan.
Day 4 (Jan 5): Fly to Mandalay. Sightseeing in Mandalay
Day 5 (Jan 6): Visit Amarapura, Sagaing and Inwa.
Day 6 (Jan 7): Take a 4-5 hr bus ride to Pyin Oo Lwin/Kyaukme/Hsipaw (in northern shan state) with a friend. Stay there overnight.
Day 7 (Jan 8): Visit Shan villages around Hsipaw and Kyaukme area in the morning and stay there overnight.
Day 8 (Jan 9): Take an early-morning bus back to Mandalay. Visit Mingun in a taxi in the afternoon. (Hopefully, there would be sufficient amount of time because I really loved Mingun when I visited it a long time ago by boat)
Day 9 (Jan 10): Fly back to Yangon in the morning and fly back to Bangkok in the evening.
I would love to hear your input on it. I also have a few questions and concerns. As per the itinerary listed above, I am looking into flying
from Yangon to Bagan
from Bagan to Mandalay
from Mandalay to Yangon
I cannot find any information on booking the internal flights ahead of my arrival. I am a little concerned that I might not be able to get a hold of the tickets because it is high season and I would only be in Yangon one day. Do you think I should book those flights through a local travel agency?

Trip to Myanmar
Certainly the tour is do able in the time scale.
As mgz says - you can book on line but as adjustments may be made nearer the time it is probably best to book through an agent who can confirm flights and deliver tickets to your hotel on arrival in Yangon.
This is what we always do.
I think that%26#39;s trying to do too much in too few days. Yes, it%26#39;s do-able, but only barely. My biggest concern would be trying to do Pyin U Lwin, Kyuakme and Hsipaw in only 2 days. If you are actually stopping to see the sights in P U L, that is going to eat up a lot of time. Plus, you can%26#39;t depend on the local bus services for arriving on time. They are slow and slower. The places you list are all worth seeing, but if there is a way to add 2 or 3 days (or ideally, even more) to your schedule that would make it much easier to handle ... and you wouldn%26#39;t feel so rushed and tired.
Thanks, everyone, for your input. The plan to go to Pyin Oo Lwin and northern Shan State is only tentative right now.. If I didn%26#39;t make it, I think I would just stay one more day in Bagan and one more day in Mandalay. My primary destination on this little side trip to Burma is to visit Mandalay and its surrounding area. I am more than ecstatic that I would be able to pay a visit to Bagan as well.
I am going to start emailing the local travel agents that you have listed above to see if they could help me with booking internal flights. Thank you very much for your recommendation.
