Flight and Boat Travel & a couple of other questions.

Hi! Four of us are going to visit Myanmar in September (9/10-22) and have pre-arranged flights %26amp; hotels in-country. Reading other queries, it appears that the %26#39;afternoon%26#39; flights are dicey. We are depending on an afternoon flight Yangon-Mandalay. Any information on that or is it too far off to know/guess?

Also, we are hoping to take a river-boat, not a %26#39;tour%26#39;, but 4 seats on a safe boat, from Mandalay to Bagan, on September 15 with some chance to take pictures and perhaps stop in one or two places along the river. What are the chances that we can find river transportation for this? What might it cost?

Are the %26#39;balloons over Bagan%26#39; still running? Or have they stopped due to shortage of customers?

Thanks....

I can%26#39;t answer much but I can tell you that Balloons over Bagan only operates in the ';high'; season which is October(ish) to March(ish), even in the better times. We wanted to do it last year when we visited in May but they just don%26#39;t operate in the low season.

I%26#39;ve been told by my travel agent that there%26#39;s only one flight a day between Yangon and Mandalay currently, and that it%26#39;s in the morning. I%26#39;ve heard this from other sources as well. But your guess is as good as mine whether that will still be so in September. I think the key is to be flexible!

Good luck on your journey!

You can check with Adventure Myanmar. They have some boats in Mandalay and may able to quote you. Their address is aye@amtt.com.mm or info@amtt.com.mm.

Their web site is www.adventuremyanmar.com

I will check with ballon over bagan tomorrow and will let you know but I expected that they will not fly yet . September is still rainy season and I don%26#39;t think they fly.

Flight, yes, you will know only when you arrive or one week before.
