Hi all,
So I have never been to a country like this and have a few questions. What vaccinations/meds to you suggest. My doctor said Thyphoid and Malaria meds. Any advice?
I am also really concerned about the food. I have a sensitive stomach and my travel partner seems to think we can eat hot foods from street vendors here and in Thailand. Any advice on what to eat/avoid would be great.
We may be in some really small villages and I don%26#39;t understand what we eat. There obviously won%26#39;t be any restaurants there.
Oh yeah.......any one ever heard of Malarone effecting birth control? Do people advise me to take Malarone?
Thanks so much.

First time to Myanmar....
Hi,
You need the following vacinations:
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis B (optional, but advised in general for your own personal protection to have if possible; but I would advise if you are planning to travel around)
Poliomyelitis (Polio)
Tetanus
Typhoid
You should also take anti-malarials; although if you are just going to be in Rangoon, Bagan and Ngapali the risks are lower. If you are planning to travel around the country, it wouild be best to take them. Ask you doctor for the specific anti malarials.
Malarone %26amp; birth control: Not that I am aware of, but check with your GP.
Malarone is basicaly for Falciparum Malaria, especially for the drug resistant one, which is the nasty one. It is prevalent in the remote or jungle/forest areas. I would check with your doctor depending on which parts of Burma you are planning to travel and for how long.
Food: Food in Burma is not as hot as the food in Thailand; but nevertheless, for the people of the west, could be spicey/hot. You should be able to ask for mild or ask not to put chillies. In any case, make sure your food is hot - temperature - that is to say cooked recently. You will find food vendors in Rangoon, say in the Bo Gyoke Market, cooking it when you order and you can see the cooking or at least see it on the fire. If you have a sensitive stomach, stick to mild types - no chillies; preferably sticking to restaurants rather than the road side vendors.
